Here we are, The Gambia team! Jermaine, sitting behind me, is the other leader. We did our DTS together in 2004 so we've known each other for a couple of years. He's a really laid back guy, wich is great. We seem to balance each other out well. Then to my left is Lisa (from Pennsylvania), Judith (from the Faroe Islands), Ashley (from California), Shane (from Jamaica) and Bettina (from Switzerland).

We begin our local outreach this Saturday in Port Antonio. This city is on the northeast coast and it used to be the tourist hub of Jamaica before Montego Bay and Ocho Rios got popular. It's also known as the most peaceful parish (that's like a province or a state).
It's pretty cool how God confirmed that He was calling us to this place for local outreach but it's a long story so I'll have to tell you when I see you or when we talk. Ask me about it!
We're going to be working with a Baptist church in the city center and they've given us both the morning and evening services on Sunday. It's been encouraging to see the students on the team rise to the challenge of getting involved.
After Christmas break we'll head back to Port Antonio for about 8 days to continue our outreach and then it's off to The Gambia for a month!
In Gambia, we'll be working with a pastor that we are well-connected with,, serving in his church and assisting in the little school near his house. They've also asked us to help out with a mobile clinic in a little remote village and to be involved in building a permanent clinic there. Time for me to brush up on some nursing skills!
Thank you so much for praying for us and for giving financially. I've got about $250 more to raise and different ones on the team are still raising funds, too and we've been asked to bring what we can to buy building supplies for the new clinic. It has been a blessing to see the generosity of people here giving to one another in obedience to the Lord's prompting. God is so faithful to provide.
There is more but I must go for now...Please pray for Bettina. She has a bad case of the flu and we need her to be better by Saturday so she can come with us to Port Antonio!
Thanks Everyone!
