WISDOM & UNDERSTANDING
I don’t like being up long after the sun has gone down,
Sleep was invited but it’s escaping me now.
My thoughts turn circles in the dark,
They flicker back & forth like my candle’s light
While I quietly pat the desk for a pen,
Trying my best not to wake up my friend.
I guess sleep feels more welcome on her side of the room.
These lines sound like songs I’ve heard before
And I don’t know what all the thoughts are for
Memories, today and make-belief,
A rear-view mirror and lines on the street.
A map rearranged and two missing feet
But You say I’m on track
At least You still know me on nights when I search for myself
I told You, You could have all of me and You are worthy of nothing less.
So I’m trusting in the words You’ve spoken,
Your peace comes over,
You overcome.
Ear inclined to understanding,
Lord, my food is Your wisdom.
You catch invisible tears that don’t roll,
Unspoken fears You gently console
With Your right hand.
Don’t let go of my hand.
I’m trusting in the words You’ve spoken,
Your peace comes over,
You overcome.
Ear inclined to understanding,
Lord, my food is Your wisdom.
The road goes on and landscapes change
Certain still moments only You could arrange…and I want more.
So Jesus lead me on
And help know that home is where You are.
