Thankful for Grace

Hi Everyone, I'm going to try to make this a short update...

So, it's pretty much been decided that I'll be co-leading an outreach team to Chile in January, isn't that exciting?! I've been involved with the Chile team as they've been preparing to go and I must admit that every once in a while leading a team to Chile seems a bit daunting but I'm really looking forward to it and I know that God's grace is sufficient and Jesus is my strength. Cheryl, who is from Jamaica and is also on DTS staff, will be leading the team with me. That's another good thing because Cheryl and I haven't really gotten to know eachother very much yet and this will be a good opportunity to do that. I'm also looking forward to growing as a leader.

The annual Pastor's Prayer Breakfast happens this coming Wednesday. It's a chance for pastors in Jamaica (especially Montego Bay) to get to know each other and start working together. I'll be speaking about last year's DTS (the one I was in) and introducing the current school. Please keep this important event in your prayers.

This weekend the guys are all hiking Blue Mountain and some of us girls would've been there except we weren't allowed to go 'cause the guys wanted to bond. So us girls went to Val's house and watched Little Women. We enjoyed the wintry scenes while munching on caramel corn and wishing that Josephine had said yes to Laurie in the first place.

As for me personally, I'm really happy to be here. I think I'm past the worst of the transitioning phase and it feels good to be at a place in life where I'm not continually anticipating what's next (ie. When I finish highschool...When I gradute from TWU...). Soon after I got back here I was wanting God to give me vision for what's next and someday I realized it had a lot to do with finding security in some sort of future aim rather than being content in the present. I do so miss my family and friends but I am so thankful to be in Jamaica. I think it's pretty rad that I get to live in the Caribbean, meet fabulous people, and be a part of what God is doing in the lives of the students, staff, and some who pass through here. Plus, hanging out with the youth has been effecting my vocabulary as I find myself saying things like, "rad," "word," and "whoa bredda!"

Thanks Everyone, for loving me and for helping me to be here.

"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11
